The 2008-2009 tennis season marks Christman's 11th at Waynesburg University. Christman has coached the women's team since the fall of 1998 and the men since the spring of 2000. Under his guidance, both programs earned their first winning seasons in 2001-2002.

During three of the last six seasons, the women's team placed a program-best second place at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships. Following the 2005 tournament, four Yellow Jackets earned all-conference honors, while all three doubles teams received all-conference laurels.

The men's team finished its spring season in 2008 with a second-place showing at the conference championships.

The Yellow Jacket tennis teams have also achieved tremendous success in the classroom. The women's team earned its eighth-consecutive Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team Award in 2007-08, while the men's team earned the coveted award for a fourth-straight season in 2006-2007.

Christman was named USPTA Middle States Division College Coach of the Year for the second time in his career in 2004. His first honor from the USPTA came in 1999. Christman also has received PAC Coach of the Year twice during his tenure at Waynesburg.

Christman's involvement in tennis goes beyond his coaching duties. He is a member of the ITA and serves as a Vice President of Adult Activities on the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Middle States. This past summer, Christman achieved Etcheberry Certified status, which allows him to make legendary Pat Etcheberry’s strength, conditioning and movement secrets for tennis available to aspiring tennis players in the southwestern Pennsylvania area.

He is also a frequent presenter on a variety of tennis subjects. He won the USPTA Middle States seminar contest in 2000 and presented his "Winning Doubles Strategy" seminar at the USPTA World Conference in Phoenix, Ariz., that fall. He also has presented "Building Tennis Programs" and "NCAA Division III Tennis" at seminars in recent years.

Christman’s past activities include serving as president of community tennis organizations as well as holding certificates as a USTA/ITA tournament official and a USTA NTRP rating verifier. His current tennis-teaching activities range from introductory clinics for adults and children to working directly with serious players.
