Box Score

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (Dec. 22) – Despite 24 points from junior guard Ryan Courneen, the Waynesburg University men's basketball team suffered through a 99-71 defeat at the hands of Notre Dame College (Ohio), an NAIA school.

The Falcons (9-4) broke a three-game losing streak with the win and jumped out to a 53-34 lead at halftime. The Yellow Jackets (4-5) couldn't handle Notre Dame in the paint as they were out-scored 44-10 near the basket and out-rebounded by a 51-26 margin.

For Courneen, it was the third-straight game in which he led the Jackets in scoring, and the fourth time he has done it this season.

Junior point guard Jarrell Rodriguez scored a season-high 16 points and dished out a team-best five assists. Sophomore forward Jeff Young came off the bench to tally 14 points.

The Falcons were led by a pair of 20-plus point scorers in junior center Karim McFarlane (24) and freshman guard/forward Eric Dummermuth (22).

The Jackets will have plenty of time to regroup and try to get back on the winning track when they travel to West Virginia to take on Glenville State College, an NCAA Division II opponent.
