CDS Division III Pre-Season All-America Teams

WAYNESBURG (June 12) – Waynesburg University sophomore running back Robert Heller recently received pre-season, first-team All-America honors by Consensus Draft Services (CDS), while senior defensive end DJ DeWitt earned honorable mention All-America accolades from CDS.

Heller returns to the Yellow Jackets after setting an all-NCAA freshmen record with 2,176 rushing yards and leading Division III with 197.8 rushing yards/game. Last year, the former Ringgold standout was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Year and received honorable mention All-America laurels from D3football.com. Heller ranked among the national leaders in scoring with 14.7 points/game and all-purpose yards at 212.0 yards/game.

DeWitt posted a breakthrough junior season for Waynesburg, setting career highs in tackles, sacks, tackles for loss (TFL) and pass break-ups. The defensive end ranked in the top 30 of Division III with 1.0 sacks/game and 1.8 TFL/game. DeWitt, a first-team all-conference selection last season, set a single-game school record with 4.5 sacks in a thrilling 27-23 night victory at Grove City College.

DeWitt and Heller are two of the 16 starters returning for the Yellow Jackets in 2008. Waynesburg opens the season on Saturday, Sept. 6 against the College of Wooster at John F. Wiley Stadium with kickoff set for 1:30 p.m.
