WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Jan. 11) – Congratulations to women's basketball player Johnna Deco and wrestler Corbin Semple, who were named the first Waynesburg University Athletes of the Week of the 2010 spring semester.
Deco, a senior guard, picked up the award after averaging a team-high 11.3 points per game over a trio of Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) games during the week ending Jan. 9. Included in that stretch was a career-high and game-best 20-point performance during the Yellow Jackets' 62-54 win over Thiel.
Semple proved he could hang with the big boys this past Saturday by going 2-1 at a quad-match at the University of Pittsburgh. Facing three starting Division I wrestlers, Semple posted a 2-1 record that included a 7-0 decision victory and a win by fall. His only loss came by way of a 5-2 decision.
