CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (March 5) – After losing a heart-breaking decision in his opening-round bout, Waynesburg junior 184-pounder Corbin Semple rebounded in a big way by pinning Nic Barclay of Luther in the first round of consolations to advance into the All-American round of consolations.
After a scoreless first period, Semple escaped from the down position and added a takedown to go up 3-0. Shortly after that, the Waynesburg native locked up a cradle and picked up the fall.
Unfortunately for the seventh-seeded Semple, an upset in the championship round will force him to face top-seeded Tyler Burkle of Coe College in the next round with All-American status on the line.
