BETHANY W. Va (April 20) - The Waynesburg University track & field team sent a message to the rest of the President's Athletic Conference, as they took first place on both the men's and women's side at the PAC Quad Meet on Wednesday.

The Yellow Jacket women took first out of three teams with a total score of 124 points, edging out rival W&J by ten points. The men's team took first as well, scoring 164 total points, twenty points better than the second place team, Bethany.

The Jacket women were led on the track by senior Mikey Macosko as she qualified for the ECAC championships in the 100 meter hurdles for the second consecutive year. Her qualifying time of 15.99s was good enough to finish second in a field of five runners. Macosko added a third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles, while also running a leg for the 4x400 meter relay team that took first place. Senior Maria Shepas followed up her ECAC qualifying performance from Saturday with two first place finishes; winning the 800 and the 1500 meter races.

The Jacket women won six total events, which included winning all three of the throwing field event. Angele Hagy threw the shot put 11 meters to finish first in the field of 13 throwers. The Jackets took first, second and third place in both the discus and javelin, with Marybeth Rocco winning in the discus and Megan Sowers taking first in the javelin.

The Waynesburg men won two events, as a pair of Jackets reacquainted themselves with the winning circle. Jordan Wrask continued his superb season, besting the field of 14 runners to win the 200 meter with a time of 23.06. Speaking of superb, Kurt Bonnet continued his assault on the Waynesburg track record books, as he broke his own school record by tossing the discus 46.14 meters. Bonnet also added a second place finish in the shot-put.

That would not be the only school record to fall at the PAC Quad, as Doogie Sanner broke the school record in the triple jump. The previous school record jump of 12.12 meters, set in 2006, fell when Sanner leaped 12.39 meters. Sanner took third in the event while also adding a second place finish in the javelin throw.

The Waynesburg men's and women will return to Bethany on Saturday, April 30 for the PAC Championships.
