NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 3) – The Waynesburg University men's cross country placed ninth out of 13 teams at Saturday's Fisher Invitational, which was hosted by Westminster College.
Sophomore
Justin Angotti led the Yellow Jackets with a team-best 27
th-place performance after crossing the finish line in 30:13.7. Classmate
Jonathan Blatt followed two spots behind in 29
th position with a time of 30:25.0, while Waynesburg's team top three was completed by senior Kam Schaeffer, who placed 59
th with a time of 31:21.0. the Jackets' five scorers were completed by freshmen
Luke Feldner (55
th, 31:29.8) and Elliott Haire (60
th, 32:06.8).
Franciscan's Bill Jones took individual medalist honors in the 135-man field with a time of 27:00.2. The race's top three was rounded out by Mercyhurst's Kevin Gregg (27:39.7) and Gannon's Andy Hellman (28:03.0. The top two spots in the team standings were claimed by Division II programs in Gannon and Mercyhurst, respectively. They were followed by Franciscan, which finished in third place.
Waynesburg's next race will be its annual home invitational, which takes place on Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Greene County Airport.
