BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Oct. 12) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team claimed a 2-1 comeback win over Geneva College on Friday evening. Junior Juli Amato tied the match after the Yellow Jackets went down 1-0 at the half, while freshman Brittney Brown scored the first game-winning goal of her career.

Waynesburg under fourth-year head coach Jim Rue moves to 7-5-2 this year, while Geneva falls to 2-11-1 and remains winless in its last nine games. The seven wins this year by the Yellow Jackets is the most since the 2001 campaign when they finished with nine victories.

The game remained scoreless until midway through the first period when sophomore Jamie Gessner gave the Golden Tornadoes a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the 33rd minute.

Senior goalkeeper Amy Mills kept the difference at one goal until halftime after making five first-half saves on nine shot attempts by Geneva.

Amato evened the score with her fourth goal of the season at 49:05 with an assist from Brown. Almost 10 minutes later, Amato set up Brown for her third goal of the season and the eventual game-winner in the 58th minute.

Mills earned her second-straight victory (4-1-2) after tying her season high of eight saves in 90 minutes of action. Junior Amber Weaver of Geneva suffered the loss after making four saves and allowing two goals on eight Waynesburg shot attempts.

The Yellow Jackets (7-5-2, 2-1-1 PAC) return to conference action on Wednesday, Oct. 17, with a home contest against Westminster College (10-2-2, 3-0 PAC). Game time is set for 4 p.m.
