Waynesburg suffers 3-1 loss at Thiel

Kreinbrook posts kill/dig double-double in the loss

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 2) – Despite a 16-kill, 16-dig performance from senior Ashley Kreinbrook, the Yellow Jackets suffered a 3-1 (22-30, 30-22, 30-27, 30-27) loss to Thiel College on Tuesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) action.

With the result on Tuesday, Waynesburg falls to 5-15 this year with a 2-4 mark in league play, while Thiel improves to 6-13 overall and 2-4 in the PAC.

Kreinbrook and junior middle hitter Amanda Jo Morgan led the offense with 16 kills each, while sophomore Jenna Heaston and junior Lindsey Garrison each added nine kills against the Tomcats. Setter Amanda Staudt directed the Waynesburg offense with 45 assists, tying her season high.

Defensively, the Yellow Jackets had four players reach double-digits in digs, including a team-high 34 from freshman libero Rachell Storm. Fellow freshman Julie Incerpi added 21, while Kreinbrook and Garrison contributed 16 and 11, respectively.

The Tomcats snapped their 12-match losing streak to the Yellow Jackets with the victory, a streak that dated back to November of the 2001 season.

Waynesburg now returns home for two-straight matches at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse, beginning with a non-conference match against La Roche College on Friday, Oct. 5. The match against the Redhawks is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start.
