WAYNESBURG (Oct. 5) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team used a career-best offense performance from junior right-side hitter
Lindsey Garrison to defeat La Roche College on Friday evening by a 3-0 (30-27, 30-19, 30-19) count at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse during Homecoming weekend.
The Yellow Jackets improve to 6-15 on the year, while the Redhawks fall to 6-15 overall.
Garrison help anchor the Waynesburg attack which hit .264 on the night, its third-best match total of the season. The junior registered a career-best 10 kills on .529 hitting, also a career high, and added eight digs against La Roche.

Ashley Kreinbrook paced the defense with 18 and 15 digs, respectively. Junior setter
Amanda Staudt engineered the Yellow Jacket offense with 24 assists, two service aces and three kills.
After the Redhawks mounted a 5-0 run in the first game to take an 8-4 lead, Waynesburg mounted a 9-1 rally to take a 13-10 lead. The two teams battled to an 18-18 tie before the Yellow Jackets forced La Roche into a timeout at the 23-19 mark after a 5-1 run. Waynesburg held on for a 30-27 victory in game one.
In the second game, Waynesburg took an early lead and expanded it to 22-14 before the Redhawks called a timeout. The Yellow Jackets finished the game on a 5-1 rally to take a 2-0 lead into the third game (30-27, 30-19).
Leading 12-10 in the third game, Waynesburg mounted a 9-2 run to take a 21-12 lead before sweeping the match in three games. In the final game, the Yellow Jackets registered 15 kills on .387 hitting for their best single-game attack percentage since Sept. 15.
Waynesburg returns to conference play on Monday, Oct. 8, when it hosts Washington & Jefferson for a 7 p.m. match at the Marisa Fieldhouse.
