WAYNESBURG (Oct. 6) – Freshman midfielder Danielle Danhires scored the lone Waynesburg University goal, as the Yellow Jackets battled Bethany College to 1-1 double-overtime tie at John F. Wiley Stadium on Saturday morning during Homecoming weekend.

With the tie, Waynesburg moves to 5-5-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) this year, while Bethany moves to 1-6-4 overall and 1-1-1 in league play.

The Bison scored the first goal of the game when midfielder Michelle McGinley tallied her second goal of the season at the 13 minutes, 21second-mark. The Yellow Jackets responded less than five minutes, as Danhires scored her team-best seventh goal (unassisted) of the season with nearly 27 minutes left in the opening period.

Neither team could register another tally in the final 72 minutes of regulation, forcing the game into a 10-minute overtime period. The Waynesburg defense was stout is the extra frame, preventing the Bison from attempting a shot. Despite two shot attempts in the overtime, the Yellow Jackets failed to break the tie and forced a second overtime period.

In the second extra period, Waynesburg again couldn't break the tie and prevented Bethany from attempting a shot. The 1-1 double-overtime tie is the second this season between the Bison and Yellow Jackets, as the two teams competed in a 1-1 contest late in September in a non-conference game.

Senior goalkeeper Amy Mills registered the decision for Waynesburg after making five saves in 75 minutes of action, while Bethany's Jessica Alloggia played all 110 minutes in net, recording seven saves on 21 shot attempts.

On offense, Waynesburg held a 21-10 advantage in shots, including a 12-3 margin in the first period and 5-0 margin in the two overtime periods.

The Yellow Jackets continue conference action on Tuesday, Oct. 9, with a home match against Thiel College at 4:30 p.m.
