WAYNESBURG (Oct. 8) – Behind a balanced offensive attack, the Yellow Jackets swept Washington & Jefferson College, 3-0 (30-24, 30-20, 30-22), on Monday night at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
With the win, Waynesburg improves to 7-15 on the year and 3-4 in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play, while W&J drops to 11-6 overall and 2-4 in league play. The Yellow Jackets snapped a three-match losing streak to the Presidents on Monday night, a streak that dated back to the championship match of the 2005 PAC Tournament.

Laurie Lindner led the team with 10 kills, while three other Yellow Jackets tallied six or more kills. Middle hitter
Amanda Jo Morgan finished with nine kills on .471 hitting, while freshman

Ashley Kreinbrook each added six kills.

Rachell Storm led the defensive effort with 18 digs, while Lindner and Kreinbrook finished with 15 and 14 digs, respectively. Junior setter
Amanda Staudt finished the match with 36 assists, seven digs and two service aces.
Seeing her first significant action in over a week after suffering an injury, Lindner recorded her 10th kill/dig double-double of the season and 34th of her career.
The Yellow Jackets held a slim lead in the early portion of game one before mounting a 13-3 run to take a commanding 23-12 lead. During the Waynesburg run, W&J called both of its timeout, but failed to shift the momentum. The Yellow Jackets staved off a late Presidents' run to win the opening stanza by a 30-24 count.
In game two, the teams battled to a 7-7 before W&J claimed its first lead of the match at 8-7. However, Waynesburg responded with an 8-1 run to take a 15-9 lead that prompted a Presidents' timeout. The Yellow Jackets expanded their lead to 19-11 before the Presidents answered with a 7-3 rally that cut the deficit to 22-18. Waynesburg again responded with an impressive run, winning seven of the final eight points in the game, 30-20.
W&J took a 7-4 lead early in game three and held control of the lead until Waynesburg evened the contest at 13-13. The two teams again evened the contest at 15-15 before the Yellow Jackets seized control of the game with a 13-3 rally to take a 28-18 lead and held on to win the game, 33-22.
Waynesburg returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 13, with a road conference tri-match hosted by W&J. The Yellow Jackets open play at 1 p.m. with a rematch against the Presidents before facing Chatham University at 3 p.m. in the Henry Memorial Center.
