WAYNESBURG (Nov. 17) – Senior forward
Josh Parisi posted a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds, as the Yellow Jackets claimed an 86-78 season-opening win against Cabrini College on Saturday afternoon at the Marisa Fieldhouse.
Parisi made 10-of-16 attempts from the field and five-of-nine from the free-throw line against the Cavaliers. The Ambridge, Pa., native collected seven of his 11 rebounds at the offensive end and added two steals and two assists in 35 minutes.

Dan Happe also registered a career high against Cabrini, scoring 23 points on 8-of-14 shots, including 7-of-12 from three-point range. Senior guard
Tim Drakeley added 17 points and five rebounds in the victory.
The first half featured six ties and seven leads changes. Both teams shot well from the floor during the opening half and the Yellow Jackets held a slim 38-36 lead with 1:50 before the break. Waynesburg then used a Parisi lay-up, a Happe three-pointer and another Parisi lay-up to build a 45-36 halftime lead.
Waynesburg increased its lead to 17 points, 61-44, in the second half following a trey by Happe with 13:45 left in the game. However, the Cavilers mounted a 23-6 run, capped with a three-pointer by freshman guard Glenn Washington, over the next seven minutes to tie the contest at 67-67.
The Yellow Jackets responded with an 11-0 run in three minutes to build back a double-digit lead, 78-67, with 3:45 remaining. During the rally Drakeley, Happe and senior guard
Jered Gamble all nailed three-pointers with Drakeley adding two points from the free-throw line.
Cabrini trimmed the deficit to six points, 84-78, with 16 seconds left, but Drakeley sealed the victory with two free throws in the final seconds.
Washington paced the Cavaliers with 26 points off the bench, converting 8-of-11 three pointers in 27 minutes. Senior forward Randy Reid added 17 points and five rebounds inn the loss.
The Yellow Jackets finished the game shooting 47.5 percent (29-of-61) from the floor, including an impressive 46.2 percent (12-of-26) from beyond the arc. Waynesburg was out-rebounded by a 36-34 margin, but forced 25 turnovers that were converted into 14 points.
Waynesburg continues the early portion of its schedule on Tuesday, Nov. 20, with a 7:30 p.m. contest against La Roche College at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
