FROSTBURG, Md. (Nov. 17) – The Waynesburg University women's basketball team suffered a 61-41 loss to Frostburg State University in the championship game of the season-opening Jim Crawley Tournament, hosted by the Bobcats on Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets struggled from the floor, shooting only 27.5 percent (14-of-51) overall and 15.4 percent (2-of-13) from beyond the arc, and committed 21 turnovers in the loss.

Amanda Mitchell led Waynesburg with eight points each.

Kristen Lucci collected a career-high seven assists.
The game remained close for most of the first half with Frostburg State holding a slim 23-21 lead with 2:39 left before halftime. However, Waynesburg missed its final six shots in the closing minutes to allow the Bobcats to take a 31-22 lead into the break.
The Yellow Jackets continued to struggle in the opening minutes of the second half, making just one-of-eight shots and committing five turnovers, which allowed the Bobcats to expand their lead to 19 points, 43-24, with 13:59 left in the game. Frostburg State would expand the lead to as many as 21 points in the second half.
Sophomore forward Brittany James led Frostburg State with game high totals of 15 points and 11 rebounds, while senior forward Amanda LaPorta added 13 points.
Waynesburg returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20, when it hosts Pitt-Greensburg for a 5:30 p.m. contest at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.
