GREENVILLE, Pa. (Dec. 1) – The Yellow Jackets dropped a 69-57 contest in their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener against Thiel College on Saturday afternoon.
Waynesburg (1-4) has now lost its last four games overall after winning the season opener, while Thiel improves to 3-2. The Tomcats have won the last three meetings and six out of the last seven against the Yellow Jackets dating back to the 2003-04 season.

Sophomore guard
Kristen Lucci returned to action against the Tomcats after missing Wednesday's game due to injury and scored a career-high 14 points.
In addition to shooting just 29.5 percent (18-of-61) for the game, the Yellow Jackets struggled to slow down junior forward and All-American candidate Amber Bodrick, who totaled a game-high 34 points with 12 rebounds, five assists, two blocks and two steals.
Thiel managed to shoot 39.7 percent (25-of-63) from the floor and 75.0 percent (15-of-20) from the free-throw line.
After scoring the first points of the game, Waynesburg missed its next nine shots and committed four turnovers during a 10-0 run by Thiel in the early minutes of the game, 10-2. The Yellow Jackets responded with a 14-6 run capped with a trey by Lucci to tie the score at 16-16 with 6:27 before halftime. However, the Tomcats mounted an 8-0 run late in the first half to take a 36-28 lead into the break.
The Yellow Jackets struggled to erase the deficit in the final 20 minutes, trimming the difference to six points on several occasions before the Tomcats reclaimed a comfortable double-digit advantage.
Thiel held a +7 advantage in rebounds (49-42) and scored 23 second-chance points on 17 offensive rebounds. The Tomcats' sophomore forward Jasmin Jones led all players with 17 boards (seven offensive), while the Yellow Jackets were led by seven rebounds from both junior guard

Waynesburg returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 5, when it hosts Bethany College at the Marisa Fieldhouse. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
