WAYNESBURG (Dec. 5) – Four players led Waynesburg University with eight points each, as the Yellow Jackets lost to Bethany College, 65-47, in Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play Wednesday night at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

The Yellow Jackets have now lost five-straight games, including two conference games, after opening the season with a victory (1-5, 0-2 PAC). The Bison evened their record to 4-4 overall and 1-1 in league action with the victory.

Junior forward Jeanette Wonsettler finished with eight points and collected a season-high 13 rebounds, one shy of her career high. Sophomore guard Johnna Deco, freshman reserve guard Celina Gomez and junior forward Michaelene Jones also finished with eight points against the Bison.

Freshman guard Kelly Goode scored a game-high 19 points for Bethany, while Stacy Goode, her twin sister, finished with eight points and a team-high six rebounds.

The Bison took an early 12-2 lead with 12:38 left in the first half before taking a sizeable 34-23 lead at halftime. The two teams shot a similar percentage from the field in the first 20 minutes (46.8 percent to 45.8 percent), but the Yellow Jackets committed 24 first-half turnovers that were converted into 21 points.

The Bison held a double-digit lead throughout the second half, stretching their lead to as many as 22 points. Turnovers continued to be a problem for Waynesburg in the second half despite out-shooting Bethany from the field. The Bison scored 20 points in the second-half off 15 Yellow Jacket turnovers.

Waynesburg returns to the court on Saturday, Dec. 5, when it travels to face Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa., for a 6 p.m. start.

The Yellow Jackets committed a total of 39 turnovers, the highest single-game total in recent program history … Waynesburg was without freshman starting forward Elisha Jones, who missed her third-straight game due to illness.
