LATROBE, Pa. (Dec. 8) – Despite double-digit rebounding performances from junior forwards
Michaelene Jones and
Jeanette Wonsettler, the Yellow Jackets dropped a 60-43 contest to Saint Vincent College at the Robert S. Carey Center Saturday night.
The loss marks the sixth-straight for Waynesburg University, who falls to 1-6 this season. Meanwhile, Saint Vincent moves to 3-5 after winning back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Jones posted her second double-double of the season and the fourth of her career in the loss. The Ohio native tied her season high of 13 points on 6-of-13 shooting with 10 rebounds (four offensive), two steals and two assists.
Wonsettler tied her career high with 14 rebounds (five offensive) and added eight points against Saint Vincent. Since moving into the starting line-up recently, she has collected 43 combined rebounds with three games of 10-plus boards.

Johnna Deco added seven points and four rebounds, while freshman guard
Celina Gomez tallied seven points and three boards off the bench. Sophomore
Kristen Lucci registered a season and a career-high eight assists in the loss.
Both teams shot exactly 32.8 percent from the field and the Yellow Jackets held a narrow 43-42 edge in total rebounds. However, Waynesburg struggled from beyond the arc, making just 2-of-15 attempts (13.3 percent).
Saint Vincent was led offensively by junior guard Janelle Reed, who scored a game-high 22 points. Fellow junior guard Ashley Campbell added 14 points, while senior forward Caryn Glassbrenner led the team with 10 rebounds (five offensive).
The Bearcats jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first four minutes of the game and maintained a double-digit lead for most of the next five minutes. However, midway through the first period, the Yellow Jackets mounted a 9-0 run to the cut the deficit, 17-16, with 7:28 left before halftime. Saint Vincent managed to keep control of the lead for the rest of the opening period and took a 26-22 lead into halftime.
The game continued to remain close in the opening minutes of the second half before Saint Vincent mounted a 13-2 rally over a four-minute stretch to take a 47-31 lead with 11:32 left in the game. The Bearcats maintained their double-digit advantage for the remainder of the contest.
Due to final exams next week, Waynesburg is idle until next Saturday, Dec. 15, when it travels to face Penn State-Altoona for a 1 p.m. start.
