Volleyball sweeps season opener against Carlow, 3-0

Lindner ties career high with six aces

LATROBE, Pa. (Aug. 31) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team claimed a 3-0 (30-25, 30-15, 30-17) sweep of Carlow University on Friday night in the Saint Vincent Bearcat Challenge. The match served as the season-opener for both teams.

Junior Laurie Lindner led the Yellow Jacket offense with 10 kills and tied her career high of six service aces, while adding eight digs. Middle blocker Amanda Jo Morgan chipped in with nine kills on .529 hitting and four blocks. Freshman Rachell Storm paced the defense with a team-high 13 digs and senior Ashley Kreinbrook added 12 digs. Juniors Amanda Staudt and Lindsey Garrison split the setting duties, recording 18 and nine assists, respectively.

Waynesburg returns to action later today when it takes on Ursuline (Ohio) at 4 p.m. in the Saint Vincent Bearcat Challenge.
