WAYNESBURG (Aug. 31) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team suffered a tough 8-1 loss to Westminster College in a non-conference match on Friday evening in the season-opening match for both team teams.

The Yellow Jackets were shutout in doubles play, losing all three matches. Sophomore Jess Mally and junior Evelyn Fabian dropped the closest match in doubles action, falling at the No. 3 position to Anna Will and Rachel Jack by an 8-5 score.

Freshman Blakeley Mall earned the lone victory for Waynesburg in the match, winning at No. 2 singles over Dana Larson in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Waynesburg returns to the courts next Friday, Sept. 7, when it travels to face Saint Vincent for a 3 p.m. match.
