Men's Cross Country takes eighth at Sea Gull Opener

SALISBURY, Md. (Sept. 1) – The Waynesburg University men's cross country team opened its season with an eighth-place showing at the annual Sea Gull Opener on Saturday morning.

Senior Tim Monaghan was the top finisher for the Yellow Jackets with a time of 30 minutes, 35 seconds over the 8K course. Junior Shane Gottschalk ran a time of 31:24, while sophomore Mike Harwick crossed the line at 31:48 to round out the top three runners for Waynesburg.

Senior Eric Graves of host Salisbury won the individual title with a time of 25:51. The United States Naval Academy won the team title with 30 points, as it boasted six of the top 10 times at the event.

The Waynesburg men are back in action next weekend, Saturday, Sept. 8, as the Yellow Jackets travel to run in the 36th-annual California (Pa.) Invitational.
