CRESSON, Pa. (Sept. 12) – Waynesburg freshman midfielder
Danielle Danhires continued her strong play on Wednesday afternoon, scoring a pair of goals in the Yellow Jackets' 4-1 victory over Mount Aloysius. After dropping the first two games to open the season, Waynesburg has now won three-straight contests and out-scored its opponent by a 10-1 margin.
Danhires, who was selected the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, put the first tally on the board in the game at the 21:00-minute mark. The Mounties quickly evened the contest at 1-1 about eight minutes later with a goal by Erica Miller. The goal by Mount Aloysius snapped a 218 minutes, 54 seconds scoreless streak registered by the Yellow Jacket goalkeepers, a streak which spanned over parts of four games.
Shortly after the contest was tied, sophomore
Katie Gaspich reclaimed the lead, 2-1, for Waynesburg with her first goal (unassisted) of the season at 28:48. Nine minutes later, junior forward
Juli Amato increased the Yellow Jackets' lead to 3-1 off an assist from freshman

Amy Mills played the second half in net for Waynesburg and made one save in 45 minutes.
Waynesburg held a commanding 29-7 advantage in the shots category, including 21 attempts in the first period. The four goals are tied for the most scored in a match this by the Yellow Jackets, as they first tallied four goals in a win over Chatham last Wednesday.
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, Sept. 16, with a home contest against Pitt-Greensburg at John F. Wiley Stadium. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
