Volleyball sweeps Bethany, 3-0

Lindner posts seventh double-double of the season

WAYNESBURG (Sept. 15) – The Waynesburg University volleyball team used a 15-kill performance by junior middle hitter Amanda Jo Morgan to drop Bethany, 3-0 (30-25, 30-23, 30-23), in the Yellow Jackets' conference-opening tri-match on Saturday at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

Morgan led the Waynesburg offense with a .583 hitting performance, while outside hitter Laurie Lindner added a 14-kill effort. Sophomore Mary Beth Crouch joined the junior duo in double figures with 10 kills and added six blocks (one solo), while freshman outside hitter Katie Balzer posted a season-high eight kills.

Lindner added her second kill/dig double-double of the afternoon, tallying 14 kills and 11 digs. Freshman libero Rachell Storm and freshman defensive specialist Julie Incerpi led the defense with 15 and 14 digs, respectively. Junior setters Lindsey Garrison and Amanda Staudt each registered 21 assists in the win.

Waynesburg (4-8, 1-1 PAC) returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 19, with a road non-conference match against Pitt-Greensburg. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
