WAYNESBURG (Sept. 18) – Freshman Brittany Spitznogle scored her third goal of the season with a minute remaining in the first half, but it wasn't enough as the Yellow Jackets dropped a 4-1 match to La Roche on Tuesday evening. The loss snapped Waynesburg's four-game winning streak during which the Yellow Jackets out-scored their opponents by a 13-2 margin.

Redhawk forward LaRissa Pallone put La Roche on the board seven minutes into the contest when she scored off a pass from Nicole Booth. La Roche increased their lead to 2-0 in the 19th minute when Jemma Devlin netted her first goal of the season.

Spitznogle then cut the deficit to 2-1 before halftime on an unassisted goal with only 1:46 left until the break.

The Redhawks seized a two-goal lead in the 62nd minute with a goal from Michelle Steele before Booth added an insurance goal, her seventh of the season, at the 73:12-mark.

Junior Paige Yeich made the start in goal for the Yellow Jackets, making three saves and allowing two goals in 40 minutes of action. Senior Amy Mills played the final 50 minutes of the contest and registered four saves on 10 shot attempts.

Waynesburg continues its three-game homestand on Thursday, Sept. 20, when it hosts NCAA Division-II member California (Pa.) University for a 4 p.m. start.
