WAYNESBURG (Sept. 26) – Junior outside hitter
Laurie Lindner registered her 1,000-career kill on Wednesday night against Geneva College at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse. However, the Waynesburg University volleyball team suffered a 3-0 (31-29, 30-21, 30-22) loss to the Golden Tornadoes during the milestone match.
Lindner led the Yellow Jackets with 18 kills on .341 hitting and finished the night with 1,011 career kills. The three-year starter is the third Waynesburg player to surpass the 1,000-career kill plateau in recent program history. Lindner tallied her ninth kill/dig double-double of the season against Geneva, finishing with 14 digs.
The Yellow Jackets fall to 5-12 on the season with the loss, while the Golden Tornadoes improve to 4-13 overall. The match doesn't count towards the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) standing as Geneva is a provisional member of the conference this year.

Ashley Kreinbrook added 10 digs and seven kills against the Golden Tornadoes. Junior setter
Amanda Staudt engineered the Yellow Jacket offensive attack with 39 assists and added eight digs in the match.
Waynesburg seized control of game one with an 8-0 run to take a 14-7 lead. However, Geneva answered back with a 7-0 rally of its own to tie the contest at 14-14. The Yellow Jackets looked to be in control late in the game with a 27-24 lead before the Golden Tornadoes staved off a loss by winning the final six points of the opening stanza, 31-29.
In the second game, Geneva used an early 6-0 run to build a 9-4 lead. Geneva would mount a 10-3 rally later in the game to take control of the game, 21-11, before holding on for a 30-21 victory.
The two teams battled for a decisive lead in the third game before Geneva built a 15-9 advantage which prompted a Yellow Jacket timeout. After a quick Waynesburg point, the Golden Tornadoes went on a 9-4 run to extend their lead to 24-14. The Yellow Jackets looked to make the match go an additional game by winning six of the final eight points, but fell short losing by a 30-22 margin.
Waynesburg returns to action this weekend on Saturday, Sept. 29, with a road tri-match in Crestview Hills, Ky. The Yellow Jackets will face defending conference-champion Thomas More at 3 p.m. before playing a non-conference match against Franklin (Ind.) at 5 p.m.
