CALIFORNIA, Pa. (Sept. 8) – Senior Tim Monaghan crossed the line 17th overall to lead the Waynesburg men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish 172points) at the 36th-annual Cal (Pa.) U Cross Country Invitational on Saturday.

Grove City finished first tallying 22points behind the top three overall finishers led by the individual winner junior Daniel Spaulding, who ran a time of 27 minutes 36.20 seconds. The host Vulcans (56 points), Mercyhurst (60 points), Pitt-Greensburg (130 points) and Westminster (154 points) rounded out the top-five finishers, respectively.

Monaghan led all Yellow Jacket runners, recording a time of 29:04.90 to socre 15 points towards the team total. Sophomore Mike Harwick finished second for Waynesburg in 32:16.20. Junior Colin Brown crossed the tape in 32:23.80 just ahead of teammates Steve Sluzynsky (32:26.40) and Shea Gottschalk (32:36.30).

The Yellow Jackets are idle next week before returning to the course on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Saint Vincent Invitational.
