CALIFORNIA, Pa. (Sept. 8) – Waynesburg University junior
Megan Grover finished 17th overall and the Yellow Jacket women's cross country team finished in third place at the 36th-annual Cal (Pa.) U Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning.
Grover, who finished first for Waynesburg for the first time this season, completed the 5-kilometer course in 21 minutes 7.20 seconds. She posted the sixth-best time of any non-scholarship runner at the eight-team event.
The next three runners for the Yellow Jackets cross the line within a span of five seconds and registered individual finishes No. 19 through No. 21. Senior
Michelle Propst Cross placed 19th overall and second among Waynesburg runners in 21:38.40. Fellow senior
Haley Hinds ran 21:41.30 for 20th place, while sophomore
Janet Carson clocked in at 21:43.50, garnering 21st place. Senior
Katie Weko rounded out the Waynesburg runners with a time of 22:28:80.
Grove City won the team event with 30 points behind four top-10 finishes, while Clarion senior Erin Richard won the individual title with a time of 18:35.70. Clarion (40), Waynesburg (91), Saint Vincent (95) and Mercyhurst (117) rounded out the top five.
The Yellow Jackets are off next weekend before returning to action on Saturday, Sept. 22, in Latrobe, Pa., for the Saint Vincent Invitational.
