WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 11) – It was a busy morning for the Waynesburg University volleyball team as they hosted Geneva and Chatham in a tri-match at the Marisa Fieldhouse starting at 11 a.m.

The Yellow Jackets split their two matches. Though they suffered a 3-0 loss to Geneva by the set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-22, Waynesburg rebounded and got the win they really needed.

They upended the Chatham Cougars by the final of 3-1 to give them their fourth Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) win of the year. The Jackets beat the Cougars in the final match of the day 25-17, 23-25, 25-16, 25-15.

In the opening match of the morning, Waynesburg senior middle hitter Amanda Jo Morgan put together a solid effort. The school's all-time career blocks leader led the team's offensive attack with 14 kills. She also assisted on a pair of blocks.

Senior outside hitter Laurie Lindner, Waynesburg's all-time career kills leader, added nine successful attacks to that total against the Golden Tornadoes, along with 16 digs. That total was second on the team to the 25 digs recorded by sophomore libero Rachell Storm.

Senior setter Amanda Staudt paced the team with 25 assists.

In the final match of the day, Jacket head coach Stephanie Benkowski worked deep into her bench against the Cougars.

Freshman Erica Lippencott led the team in kills with eight, while Lindner, who only played in the fourth set, chipped in five.

Another freshman, setter Krysta Stanko put together a good afternoon's work with 12 assists. Staudt led the team in assists for the second time on the day with 27.

Freshman defensive specialist Courtney Teter rolled up a team-high 14 digs in the win over the Cougars.

Unfortunately for Waynesburg, which improves to 4-5 in the PAC and 8-13 overall, they don't get much time to rest from their busy morning as they are back in action on Tuesday, when they host the defending conference champions from Westminster.
