Women's tennis drops 6-3 match to Saint Vincent

Waynesburg puts forth solid effort against a very good Bearcat team

Box Score

WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 18) – After falling behind 3-0 following doubles play, the Yellow Jacket women's tennis team bounced back to go .500 in singles play this past Saturday in a match against Saint Vincent.

Unfortunately, it was a case of too little, too late as Waynesburg dropped a non-conference match to the Bearcats by the final of 6-3 on senior day.

After picking up three wins in singles play, the Bearcats (13-3-1) followed with victories at number one and number two singles.

The Jackets (3-10) got their first win at third singles where Jess Mally earned a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Rebecca Cronauer. Win number two came at fifth singles where Cassie Califf took down Megan Mahoney by the final of 7-6, 6-2.

Melissa Faulkner rounded out the victories for Waynesburg by beating Caitlin Brozek 6-3, 2-6, 1 (8).

The Jackets finish up their season on Monday, when they travel to Washington, Pa. to take on Washington and Jefferson.
