BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Oct. 21) – The Waynesburg women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 sweep at the hands of Geneva on Tuesday night.
The Golden Tornadoes (20-7) took the match in front of their home crowd by the set scores of 25-21, 26-24, 25-16. The loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 8-18 overall.
On the night, senior outside hitter Laurie Lindner led the team in kills with seven and added eight digs on the night, second only to sophomore Rachell Storm, who recorded 27 digs.
Senior setter Amanda Staudt rolled up a team-best 19 assists over three sets and yet another senior, Amanda Jo Morgan, stuffed a solo block and assisted on two more for a total of three on the night.
The Jackets return home for a special match on Thursday when they host Saint Vincent.
Both teams will be taking part in the Dig For the Cure campaign to help fight Breast Cancer. While there usually is not an entrance fee charged at the Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse, a small fee of one dollar will be collected at the door, with all proceeds going to aid in research and prevention of the disease.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
