NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 25) – The Yellow Jackets women's soccer team hit the road for New Wilmington and dropped a 4-1 decision to Westminster on Saturday night.
The Titans (13-2-2, 4-0-1), jumped out to a 3-0 lead before the halfway point of the first period on goals by the Titans' Christina Adams, Jessi Losteter and Sarah Nee. Nee and Adams assisted on each others' goals, while Samantha Killmeyer got the assist on Losteter's score.
After halftime, the Titans increased their lead to 4-0 during the 80th minute of the match when Meredith Sabol picked up an unassisted goal on a penalty kick.
The Jackets' lone goal of the contest came courtesy of freshman Melody Cox, who scored her sixth goal of the year.
Both teams utilized three different goalkeepers on the night. For Waynesburg, senior Paige Yeich got the start and allowed three goals in the first period, while making six saves. The second half was worked by freshmen Katrina Kelly and Jaime Williamson. Kelly made seven saves and allowed the Titans' final goal.
Lindsey Mellott got the start for the Titans and played the first half en route to the win.
With the loss, Waynesburg drops to 7-7-2 overall and 2-3 in the PAC. The Jackets will be back on the field on at home on Wednesday, Oct. 29, when they play host to Thomas More.
