Lady kickers fall to Saint Vincent

Waynesburg drops a 4-0 decision to the Bearcats

LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 3) – The Waynesburg women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision to Saint Vincent Friday in the first game of a women's/men's double-header at Chuck Noll Field.

 

The non-Presidents' Athletic Conference loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 5-4-1 on the year, while the Bearcats jumped up to 5-3-1.

 

Leanna Seminsky, a sophomore forward from Johnstown, Pa., led Saint Vincent with a pair of goals and an assist on the afternoon to power the Bearcat attack. Seminsky's first goal came at 27:24 into the contest, putting SVC ahead 1-0. Her second goal capped the scoring at the 72:14 mark, bringing about the final score of 4-0.

 

Seminsky also assisted on the third goal of the game, which was put home by Saint Vincent's Alex Shasko at 65:12.

 

On the day, Waynesburg was out-shot 35-6.

 

Senior keeper Paige Yeich got the start in net for Waynesburg and made four saves, while allowing one goal in 45 minutes of work. Freshman Katrina Kelly worked 30 minutes in the second half and made three saves, before fellow freshman Jaime Williamson played the final 15.

 

The Yellow Jackets return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 7, when they hit the road to open PAC play at Chatham University.
