ERIE, Pa. (Feb. 16) – The Yellow Jackets suffered a 9-0 loss to Penn State-Behrend Saturday in their season-opening match. Its marks the third-straight year in which Waynesburg University has opened its spring schedule with a non-conference match against the Lions.
The Lions completed a sweep in doubles play with the closest match at the No. 1 position where seniors Miles Boyea and Jim Palmer defeated junior

In singles play, both Houseknecht and freshman
Steve Bold forced their matches to three sets. At first singles, Houseknecht won a first-set tiebreaker against Boyea, 7-6, before losing the next two sets (6-3, 6-2). Bold also claimed a victory in his first set at No. 5 singles against senior Trevor Dougherty, but won just four games in the next two sets (6-2, 6-2).
The Yellow Jackets return to the courts on Tuesday, Feb. 19, when they face Saint Vincent College in a provisional conference match at the Greensburg Racquet Club. The match is set for a 12:30 p.m. start.
