Waynesburg places fourth at Carnegie Mellon

VERONA, Pa. (April 10) – Waynesburg University senor Ryan Heilman (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward) carded a six-over 76 on Thursday to lead the Yellow Jackets to a fifth-place finish at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, hosted at the par 70, 6,683-yard Longue Vue Country Club.

Saint Vincent College won the event at 18-over 298, while Neil Howitt of Davis & Elkins College took medalist honors with an even-par 70. The host Tartans (308) edged Davis & Elkins (309)for second place by one stroke, followed by Westminster College (318) and Waynesburg (335).

Heilman landed his second top-ten finish of the season and was Waynesburg's top finisher for the second-straight tournament. The senior tied for eighth overall at six-over 76 (39-37).

Sophomore Ryan Work (Mill Run, Pa./Connellsville) shot a career-best score of 13-over 83 (44-39) to finish in a tie for 17th place overall. Junior Tommy Rohanna (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) finished in 21st place after carding a round of 15-over 85 (44-41), while classmate Sean Call (Mt. Pleasant, Ohio/Buckeye Local) rounded out Yellow Jacket scorers with a round of 21-over 91 (45-46) to place 31st overall.

Waynesburg returns to competition on Monday, April 14, at the McBride-Behringer-Allen Invitational, hosted by Grove City College at the Grove City Country Club. Tee time is set for 12 p.m.
