WAYNESBURG (April 16) – In their first action in over a week, the Yellow Jackets dropped a 19-1 contest to Notre Dame College (Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon at John F. Wiley Stadium.

Waynesburg University drops to 0-8 in its inaugural season of play, while Notre Dame College moves to 9-3 with its ninth-straight win.

The Falcons, a fourth-year NAIA program, took a 3-0 lead in the opening two minutes of the game before adding two goals over the next seven minutes. The Yellow Jackets avoided the shutout when junior Laurie Lindner (Cranberry Twp., Pa./Seneca Valley) tallied her fourth goal of the season off an assist from classmate Steph Strauser (McVeytown, Pa./Belleville Mennoite) with 19:00 minutes left before halftime.

Notre Dame eventually took an 11-1 lead into the break before scoring eight second-half goals.

Senior Laura Rayle (Wind Ridge, Pa./West Greene) posted 12 saves on 32 shot attempts by the Falcons, who used a trio of goalkeepers in the victory.

The Yellow Jackets tied a season high with 17 ground balls, including four by junior Amanda Serjak (Bessemer, Pa./Mohawk). Sophomore Leigh Palmer (Union City, Pa./Union City) added three ground balls to increase her team-leading total to 19.

Waynesburg returns to action on Saturday, April 19, when it hosts Fontbonne University (Mo.) for a 3 p.m. game at Wiley Stadium.
