LATROBE, Pa. (April 17) – The Waynesburg University men's golf team finished in 13th place at the 18-team Saint Vincent College Invitational on Thursday afternoon at the par-72 Latrobe Country Club.
The host Bearcats claimed the team title with a round of 309, edging out Washington & Jefferson College (311) and Clarion University (314), a Division II program. Jared Schmader of Clarion captured medalist honors with an even-par 72 (36-36).
The Yellow Jackets were led by a trio of golfers that carded rounds of 12-over 84 in juniors
Sean Call (Mt. Pleasant, Ohio/Buckeye Local) and
Tommy Rohanna (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) and senior
Ryan Heilman (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth Forward). Rohanna led the team with a score of 41 on the front nine, while Heilman shot a team-best 38 on the final nine holes.
Newcomer
Mike Quin (Robinson Twp., Pa./Montour) finished with a round of 18-over 90 (46-44) in his first collegiate invitational, while sophomore
Ryan Work (Mill Run, Pa./Connellsville) carded a score of 21-over 93 (45-48).
The Yellow Jackets resume their spring season on Monday, April 21, with Day 1 of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships at the Oak Tree Country Club in West Middlesex, Pa.
