WAYNESBURG (April 2) – The Yellow Jackets picked up singles wins from newcomers Steve Bold (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora), Emile Khoury (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) and Eric Schons (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) on Wednesday afternoon, but Penn State-Altoona swept doubles play and took a split of singles play en route to a 6-3 win over the Yellow Jackets.

The Lions (5-1) swept the doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead with two of the matches being decided by two games.

Khoury posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jared Rute at third singles for his team-leading fourth win in singles play this season. Bold cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Sean Graydon at the fourth slot, while Schons recorded a 6-2, 7-5 win over Stephen Penn at the No. 5 position.

The Yellow Jackets (2-3) continue their busy week tomorrow, Thursday, April 3, when they host Frostburg State University for a 3 p.m. match. The match against the Bobcats marks the second of a four match in four-day stretch for Waynesburg.
