Men's Golf finishes in second place at Thiel Invitational

GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 7) – Waynesburg University senior Ryan Heilman (Elizabeth, Pa./Elizabeth-Forward) fired a round of 80 to pace the Yellow Jackets in the Thiel College Invitational at The Greens of Greenville on Monday.

Waynesburg finished in second place at the six-team invitational with a round of 338. Notre Dame College (Ohio) captured the team title with a score of 316, while Tony Pinzone of the Falcons took medalist honors with a round of 74 (38-36).

Heilman shot a 39 on the front nine before carding a 41 on the back nine. He finished the event in a three-way tie for seventh place with a season-low round of 80.

Junior Tommy Rohanna (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) carded a round of 82 (43-39) to finish in a tie for 10th place overall. Senior Ryan Reilly (McKeesport, Pa./South Allegheny) rebounded from a 46 on the front nine to shoot a 40 on the final nine holes to finish the invitational with a top-15 finish with a score of 86.

Sophomore Sean Call (Mt. Pleasant, Ohio/Buckeye Local) rounded out the Yellow Jacket scorers with a round of 90.

Sophomore Ryan Work (Mill Run, Pa./Connellsville) finished with a round of 92, while junior Zach Van Camp (Washington, Pa./Trinity) carded a 101 while competing as an individual.

Waynesburg returns to the links on Thursday, April 10, at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational. The event is set for a 10 a.m. start at the Longue Vue Country Club in Verona, Pa.
