STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (April 7) – Behind a 19-run outburst in Game 1, the Yellow Jacket cruised past Franciscan University in a doubleheader sweep on Monday night, 19-2 and 8-0.
In Game 1, junior hurler
Autumn Minor (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) (4-4) earned the win after tossing three hitless innings with one walk and five strikeouts. Franciscan starter Megan Smith suffered the loss, surrendering 19 runs (eight earned) on 16 hits with 11 walks and four strikeouts.

The Waynesburg offense scored 10 runs (nine unearned) with two outs in the first inning. Pivik scored the first run of the game on a single by Minor. Klueg, who reached base with a walk, and Minor scored on a Barons' error to increase the lead to 3-0. With the bases loaded, senior right fielder

Haley Kramer (Ellwood City, Pa./Laurel) drew a walk to give the Yellow Jackets a 5-0 lead. In her second plate appearance of the inning, Pivik lined a two-run single before scoring on a two-run triple by Klueg, 9-0. The final run of the inning came on a RBI single by freshman third baseman

The Yellow Jackets (7-11) added a pair of runs in the second inning before Jackson collected a RBI single in the third inning to take a 13-0 lead.

The 19 runs were the most scored in a game by Waynesburg since a 20-1 victory over Chatham on March 24, 2003.
In the nightcap, Baughman gave the Yellow Jackets a 2-0 edge in the second inning with a two-run home run, her third homer of the season.
Waynesburg scored six runs (all unearned) in the bottom of the fifth to take an 8-0 lead and force the five-inning rule. Kramer collected the only RBI of the inning when she drew a two-out, bases-loaded walk.
Baughman (2-4) earned her second-straight win after throwing three hitless innings, issuing one walk with seven strikeouts. Barons' starter Hannah Starre took the loss, going 4.2 innings, allowing eight runs (two earned) on five hits with seven walks and one strikeout.
