WASHINGTON, Pa. (April 8) – The Yellow Jackets (3-4, 2-0 PAC) took four of six points in singles play, as the Waynesburg University men's tennis team tallied a 6-3 victory over Washington & Jefferson College (4-3, 2-2 PAC) Tuesday afternoon.
At No. 2 doubles, freshmen
Steve Bold (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) and
Emile Khoury (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) tallied an 8-4 win over Pat Kennedy and David Dubois. Junior
Drew Slater (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and sophomore
Adam Woodruff (Hemlock, N.Y./Livonia) scored an 8-2 win at the third slot over Eric Sillard and Matthew Varacallo.
Khoury registered a three-set victory for the Yellow Jackets with a 1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (6-4) win over Jeff Tomaino at third singles. Sophomore
Jeff Canning (Cambridge, Ohio/Cambridge) defeated Kennedy at the second slot by default.
Bold defeated Dubois by a 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 margin at fourth singles. Senior
Eric Schons (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) defeated W&J's Sillard by a 6-0, 6-0 count at the fifth slot.
Waynesburg resumes competition tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9, when it hosts Frostburg State University. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
