In Game 1, Bethany claimed the lead in the second inning, scoring three runs on five singles. Waynesburg trimmed the deficit to 3-1 in the third with a solo homer by senior third baseman Ryan Group (Washington, Pa./McGuffey), his first of the season and the fourth of his career.

The Yellow Jackets made it a one-run contest in the fifth before scoring the game-tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the sixth.
