WAYNESBURG (April 9) – Behind five singles wins and a sweep of doubles play, the Waynesburg University men's tennis team (4-4) notched its second win in as many days, defeating Frostburg State University by an 8-1 count Wednesday afternoon.

Jeff Canning (Cambridge, Ohio/Cambridge) led the Yellow Jackets' sweep of doubles play with an 8-3 win at the first slot over Jeff Leskey and Cory Vandergrift. Freshmen
Steve Bold (Aurora, Ohio/Aurora) and
Emile Khoury (DuBois, Pa./DuBois) tallied an 8-2 win over Joshua Galvez and Jerry Castillo at No. 2 doubles. Waynesburg completed the sweep when junior
Drew Slater (Pittsburgh, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and sophomore
Adam Woodruff (Hemlock, N.Y./Livonia) registered an 8-3 win at third doubles over Ronald Collins and Phillip Darden.
Leskey earned the Bobcats' lone point of the match after scoring a three-set victory at first singles over Houseknecht, who is battling injury. Canning increased the Waynesburg lead with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Galvez at second singles. Khoury outlasted Darden at third singles, winning 6-1, 7-6 (4).
Bold extended the Yellow Jackets' lead with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Collins at fourth singles, while senior
Eric Schons (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) posted a 6-2, 6-0 victory against Castillo at the fifth slot. Woodruff made short work of Vandergrift, winning by a 6-0, 6-0 count at sixth singles.
Waynesburg resumes conference play tomorrow, Thursday, April 10, against Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pa. The match will mark the third in three days for the Yellow Jackets.
