April Loving (East McKeesport, Pa./East Allegheny) won both the 100 and 200-meter dashes with record-setting times and freshman
Elisha Jones (Russell, Pa./Eisenhower) shattered her own school record in the javelin throw on Wednesday, as the Yellow Jackets finished third with 128 points at the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Quad, hosted by Geneva College.
The host Golden Tornadoes captured the team title with a score of 173, followed by Bethany College (147), Waynesburg and Washington & Jefferson (76).
Loving opened the meet with a first-place showing in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.93 seconds to win the event by seventh-tenths of a second. She previously set the school record on Saturday at the W&J Invitational with a time of 12.94 seconds. Loving later captured the 200-meter dash title in 27.14 seconds, shaving 0.69 seconds off her previous school record.
Jones won her third-straight javelin title since the start of the outdoor season with a record throw of 136.71 feet (41.67 meters), breaking her previous record by over three feet.
Waynesburg captured a 1-2 finish in the javelin, as junior
Amanda Staudt (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton) finished behind Jones with a throw of 114.44 feet (34.88 meters).
Junior
Megan Grover (Arvada, Col./Faith Christian) also earned a first-place finish for the Yellow Jackets at Geneva, winning the 3000-kilometer run with a time of 10 minutes, 44.51 seconds.
For the third-straight week freshman Michaeline Macosko (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) broke her own school record in the 400-meter hurdles. Macosko finished in second place with a record time of 1:10.79, eclipsing her previous best by 1.35 seconds.
Junior
Tonya Lewis (Finleyville, Pa./Ringgold) and sophomore
Melissa Cox (Waynesburg, Pa./Jefferson-Morgan) also posted strong showings for Waynesburg. Lewis finished in third place in the shot put at 31.76 feet (9.68 meters), while Cox placed fourth in the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:12.22.
The Yellow Jackets return to competition on Saturday, April 12, at the Slippery Rock Invitational.
