WASHINGTON, Pa. (May 2) – The Waynesburg University softball team lost a 1-0 pitcher's duel to Washington & Jefferson College at Brooks Park in Game A of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Tournament on Friday afternoon.

The fourth-seeded Yellow Jackets (16-19) continue play in the double-elimination tournament this afternoon, Friday, May 2, at Brooks Park and will face either Bethany College or Thomas More College at 3 p.m.

The game featured two of the best pitchers in the league with juniors Autumn Minor (Waynesburg, Pa./Waynesburg Central) and Rebecca Nachreiner in the circle for their respective teams. Nachreiner moved to 16-4 on the season after tossing a three-hit, complete-game shutout with one walk and nine strikeouts. Minor (10-8) was saddled with the loss despite allowing just one run on three hits and fanning seven with no walks.

The Presidents (26-9), who serve as the host of the two-day tournament after securing the No. 1 seed, scored the game's only run in the fifth inning when senior designated hitter Tanesha Minney belted an opposite-field solo homer, her second of the season.

The home run was the only extra-base hit allowed by either pitcher.

Freshmen Amber Pivik (Washington, Pa./Washington) and Amanda Baughman (Washington, Pa./Washington) and junior catcher Kristyn Klueg (East Northport, N.Y./John H. Glenn) all collected hits for the Yellow Jackets, who left five runners on base (three in scoring position).
