MEADVILLE, Pa. (May 9) – Several members of the Waynesburg University women's track & field team competed at the 45-team Allegheny College Gator Invitational on Friday.
Behind the tandem of freshman
Elisha Jones (Russell, Pa./Eisenhower) and junior
Amanda Staudt (Cochranton, Pa./Cochranton), the Yellow Jackets posted a pair of top-10 finishes in the javelin throw. Jones finished fifth overall in the event with a throw of 123.06 feet (37.51 meters), while Staudt placed eighth overall and second in her flight with a heave of 120.34 feet (36.68 meters).
Sophomore
April Loving (East McKeesport, Pa./East Allegheny) competed in three events at the invitational, which featured programs from all divisions around the area. She opened the day as the anchor on the 4x100-meter relay team, which finished the race in 52.52 seconds. The sophomore sprinter then placed ninth overall and fourth in her flight with a time of 13.09 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Loving concluded her afternoon in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 27.28 seconds to place 11th overall.
Freshman Michaeline Macosko (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and
Brianne Miller (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye) both competed in the 100-meter hurdles, while Macosko also ran the 400-meter hurdles. Junior
Becca Geisel (Uniontown, Pa./Uniontown) rounded out the Waynesburg athletes in competition, as she participated in both the long jump and triple jump.
Eight different Yellow Jackets will be competing in a total of nine events at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships in Springfield, Mass., on May 16-17.
