PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Aug. 29) – Three different members of the Waynesburg University women's soccer team buried shots in the net and a pair of goalies combined to stop five shots on goal as the Yellow Jackets won their opening game of the 2008 season over Carlow.

The contest was held at La Roche College as part of a two-day tournament.

The first goal of the season came at 19:07 of the contest when junior Katie Gaspich buried a shot behind Carlow (0-1) goalie Selena Rowand to put the Jackets up 1-0.

In the second half, Waynesburg (1-0) got insurance tallies from junior Catherine Moore and sophomore Brittany Spitznogle.

However, the player who had the biggest night was freshman forward Courtney Ebersole. The native of Bermudian Springs assisted on all three Yellow Jacket goals in the victory.

A trio of goals was more than enough support for goalies Paige Yeich and Katrina Kelly, who combined for a season-opening shutout.

With their first win firmly tucked away, Waynesburg turns their attention to Point Park, whom they play on Saturday at 4 p.m.
