WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 16) – The Waynesburg University women saw their three-game winning streak come to an end, but their undefeated streak stretched to four as the
Yellow Jackets played Muskingum to a 1-1 tie in double overtime on Tuesday night.

While the game was an entertaining one, the bigger story had to do with what was going on above John F. Wiley Stadium as, for the first time in school history, an outdoor sporting event was held under lights at night.

As far as what happened under the artificial light, the visiting Muskies (4-1-1) scored first when Nicole Langsten put a shot past Waynesburg starting goalie Paige Yeich, putting Muskingum up 1-0 just five minutes into the game. Alyssa Cushman got an assist on the score, which was the first given up this year by Yeich.

The Yellow Jackets answered back in the second period when Katie Gaspich tallied her second score of the season on an unassisted shot.

Muskingum goalie Princess Tarrance made 10 saves for Muskingum, while Yeich turned away five shots over the 45 minutes she played. Katrina Kelly relieved Yeich in between the two regulation periods and made six saves over the final 65 minutes.

Waynesburg returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they travel to La Roche College for a game 12 p.m. game with the Redhawks.
