Waynesburg volleyball team knocks off La Roche

Yellow Jackets upend Redhawks by the final of 3-1

(Sept. 16) – The Waynesburg University women's volleyball team put together a solid effort to snap a five-match losing streak and earn a 3-1 victory over La Roche on Tuesday night.

 

Waynesburg (4-6) won the first set 25-18, but the Redhawks bounced back to take set two 26-24. The Yellow Jackets responded with a resounding 25-10 win in set three and wrapped things up with a 25-20 match-clinching victory in set four.

 

Senior outside hitter Laurie Lindner led Waynesburg with 20 kills. The 2007 All-Presidents' Athletic Conference member added two service aces, nine digs, a solo block and an assist on a block.

 

Waynesburg's other 2007 All-PAC member, senior middle hitter Amanda Jo Morgan, added 13 kills and three solo blocks on the night.

 

Senior setter Amanda Staudt led the team with 47 assists and sophomore libero Rachell Storm chipped in a team-best 11 digs.

 

The Jackets are back in action on Thursday, Sept. 18, at home, when they host Thiel to open PAC play. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
