STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 24) – The Waynesburg University women's soccer team saw their five-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Wednesday night with a 2-0 loss to Franciscan.
The Barons (5-3-1) took a 1-0 lead just before the 14:00 mark of the first period when Kelly Koehr beat Waynesburg goalie Paige Yeich on a penalty kick. Franciscan picked up an insurance goal in the second period when Elisabeth Hofer beat keeper Katrina Kelly, who played the second period, in the 59th minute.
Overall, Franciscan out-shot Waynesburg 17-8 on the night. The loss dropped the Yellow Jackets to 5-2-1 on the season.
Yeich made four saves in net, while Kelly had a busy second half, making eight stop.
The Waynesburg women will try to start a new unbeaten streak on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they host Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Bethany in a non-conference contest.
