PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Sept. 25) – The Waynesburg University women's tennis team got their first win of the season as they dominated Chatham University to the tune of an 8-1 victory on Thursday afternoon.

After suffering a defeat at number one singles, the Yellow Jackets picked up eight wins in a row, starting at number two singles where Allie Horochak picked up a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Becca Minges.

Jess Mally got her first win of the year at number three singles by beating Sarah Urick 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 and Jessica Kody followed suit with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Meg Padula.

Waynesburg's (1-5, 1-2) Carrie Daubert improved to 2-3 as a singles player in 2008 by beating Tory MacKenzie 6-0, 6-0 and Cassie Califf earned her team-best fourth win of the year by rolling past Katie Lucas 6-0, 6-1.

The Yellow Jackets swept the doubles competition with wins by Kody and Laura Garcia at number one doubles (9-8 (7-2)), Horochak and Mally at number two doubles (8-5) and Califf and Melissa Faulkner at number three singles (8-0).

With their first win under their belts, the Yellow Jackets will look to make it two in a row on Saturday, Sept. 27, when they host Westminster for a 10:30 a.m. PAC match.
