WAYNESBURG (Sept. 4) – Three Waynesburg freshmen earned their first collegiate wins, but they weren't enough for the Yellow Jackets to claim victory as they fell 7-2 to Division II Fairmont State on Thursday evening
First year players Kelsey Diesel and Jenny McAndrews teamed up for a come-from-behind 8-6 victory at number three doubles.
The lone Jacket win in singles came when another Waynesburg freshman, Cassie Califf, closed out the night as darkness approached with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win at number six singles.
The loss drops Waynesburg to 0-2 on the young season. The Yellow Jackets return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 9, when they host PAC opponent Saint Vincent at home in a 3:30 match.
